History

Provincial Assembly of Presbyterian and Unitarian Ministers and Congregations of Lancashire and Cheshire - A rather large title which came into being in 1842 from groupings going back to 1691.

As we all know, county boundaries have wandered about over the years, so nowadays this means:- Merseyside (MDMA), North East Lancashire (NELUM), Manchester (MDA), and East Cheshire, including Newcastle, Staffs (ECU) and it exists for the benefit of all Unitarians in this area.

So how does it function? It has a committee, usual officers and two reps from each of the Districts. Ministers from the area can attend and ex-Presidents. It meets three times a year at Cross Street Chapel, Manchester and has an AGM in April which is peripatetic. This is usually a short business meeting and an interesting afternoon activity. To both of which everyone is welcome.
